Welcome to My Holly Springs Real Estate Page Holly Springs Overview & History Holly Springs, with close neighbors Apex, Cary and Fuquay-Varina, is a town with its "Welcome Mat" proudly in place. Experiencing rapid growth from the heavily populated Raleigh and RTP areas, Holly Springs is fast becoming a well-known town. The Town of less than 1,000 in 1990 has grown to more than 10 times that figure today. Because of the dramatic, pace-setting growth, the current mayor, Dick Sears, coined Holly Springs as "the fastest growing town in North Carolina," erecting signs boasting the brand on major thoroughfares leading into Town. While proud of their little town, the town's leaders also are determined to control the quality and placement of new developments while preserving open space and creating public areas. One of the recent focuses has been on encouraging commercial development in downtown Holly Springs. Part of that effort was completed in 2003. The Holly Springs Town Hall on Main Street is a 35,000 square-foot, two-story brick building designed in an architectural style reminiscent of the 19th century when Holly Springs was founded. A cupola with a large clock that faces Main Street and an outdoor plaza with a fountain behind the building are just two of the building´s features. In the lobby, above a display case maintained by the Holly Springs Historical Preservation Society, hangs a historic oil painting of George Washington, dated to the 1700s.
