Cary History & Overview

A settlement called Bradford's Ordinary began in 1750 in what is now Cary. However, the man credited with founding Cary was Allison Francis "Frank" Page, who was its first developer, mayor, postmaster and railroad agent.  Today Cary is home to over 100,000 residents, many settling in this small town within the last 10 years.

Cary enjoys a convenient location just southwest of Raleigh, and close to major universities such as Duke, North Carolina State, and the University of North Carolina.  More than two-thirds of adults living in Cary hold a college degree, and, with nearly 9 in 10 citizens on the Internet, it certainly earns its nickame of "The Technology Town of North Carolina"!

The January 2004 issue of Money Magazine names Cary, N.C. the hottest town in the East and one of six Hottest Towns in America.  Growth is everywhere here, and Cary's citizens are reaping the benefits of both retail and residential expansion.
